I never got it also... Viper are no worse than a C5 without traction control and removed ABS. It’s actually fairly easy to drive and very docile. It’s a lot easier to crash a Miata with an open-diff than a Viper really.

It’s a lot easier to crash a mustang too. As long as you’re not driving like a jerk, there’s nothing scary about driving the viper.

Bingo. Tons of internet fueled BS. The only people talking about how scary it is are the people that have never driven one. Oh well, I guess it’s more fun to imagine something as super dangerous and cool then to accept the reality. I say it all the time and people that have never even sat in a Viper argue with me.
